This wasn’t the first time I’ve studied French, but I don’t think a semester in high school really counts. I had a really hard time of it back then and eventually gave up and did the bare minimum to pass the class. Pimsleur s French 1 was a lot easier to learn with than having a teacher in front of me. No one was there to make fun of me or to treat me like I was stupid because I couldn’t get the accent right. I can try as many times as I want to perfect a word before moving on to the next part.
With Pimsleur, repetition is key. They remind you of words you previously learned to keep them fresh in your mind. Not in a boring, repetitive way but by prompting you to answer their questions and take part in the conversation. I probably shouldn’t do this but I add in my own stuff to the conversation.
I love learning new languages with Pimsleur because it shows me that I can do things I never thought I’d be able to.
