I’ve tried rainbow bandz before, but never with the loom. My niece kept telling me how much easier it was to make pretty things with a loom but I was stubborn. Until I tried this one. It IS a lot easier to make things. You aren’t limited to just making a single or double (if you use a fork) bracelet and can make characters, ice cream cones, multi-strand bracelets… All types of things.
This kit comes with the loom, 600 rubber bands, a hook, and 24 C clips. I didn’t use the C clips because I like the S clips better but they looked to be good quality. The hook was thicker than what you normally get with rubber bands, which was a good thing. The thin ones bend and break when you try to manipulate them but I didn’t have to worry about that happening with this one at all.
The loom itself was pretty cool. It had a base that was moveable so you can add extra looms onto it to make it larger. My niece was pretty excited about that since she could use it to make more complicated projects. The only thing I didn’t like about it was that the edges weren’t smooth. I worried that when you were trying to pull the project off the loom that the bands would catch on the sharp pieces and snap, ruining the entire thing. I’d also be worried about little kids trying to use it but you shouldn’t let them play with it without adult supervision anyway since it has a lot of tiny pieces.
This also came with an instruction pamphlet but I had some problems following all but the easiest ones. I found it easier to YouTube patterns and follow along as they made them on my screen.
All in all, for the asking price, this would be a good investment if your child was wanting to try making rainbow bandz and you didn’t want to spend a lot of money buying a larger kit until you saw if it would hold their attention.
You can purchase it from Amazon for only $10 (prices may change so check before you click Buy)
