This episode (see the end of the post for ordering information) really starts with Dennis, Stuart, and Tommy having a club meeting under the kitchen table. Mr. Wilson and Henry come in to have a cup of coffee at the table. Dennis then ends up pouring his cup of water all over Mr. Wilson’s shoes (it was funny that Mr. Wilson said he was afraid to look and see what was happening under the table…maybe he thought he was taken by surprise?).
Henry then asks Dennis to find another more appropriate place for their club house. Mr. Wilson can’t think of a place they can go. Finally, Alice and Martha came in from a club meeting where they spoke with a gypsy who had them all enthused. The lady told them Alice would come into money, Martha would cross water, and that George would hear from Daniel Wilson soon. (Daniel Wilson died in an Indian uprising in the 1800s).
Meanwhile, Dennis, Stuart, and Tommy saw the meter reader use a tiny access door to peek in Mr. Wilson’s crawl space and decide to use it for their club house. They end up outfitting with horns, mechanical alarm clocks, and fun wall hangings like flags. While they are hammering up the flag, Madame Tina, the gypsy, is upstairs at the Wilson trying to commune with the spirits for Mr. Wilson. As they tap to communicate with the spirits, Dennis is tapping the hammer to hang up their decorations. The gypsy freaks out. (Fun note: The gypsy was played by a woman who plays Maxwell Smart’s Aunt Bertha as well as one of Hazel’s fellow maid pals in at least the first season of Hazel. Her name was Maudie Prickett.)
George and Martha wake up in the night to the sound of the mechanical alarm clock and the next day they find out Martha is leaving to take care of her sister for a few days which leaves Mr. Wilson alone in the house despite his trying to tag along with Martha because the noises from below are freaking him out. The coup de gras was the boys playing a record in the basement about Daniel Boone without the last name being mentioned. Of course, Mr. Wilson thinks this is his relative Daniel contacting him.
Mr. Wilson ends up having to stay behind. Tommy and Dennis end up sneaking out in the night to grab Henry’s suitcase out of the crawl space at Mr. Wilson’s. Henry wakes up when Tommy and Dennis sneaks out and goes next door to feed Fremont because they didn’t know Mr. Wilson didn’t go and had agreed to feed the dog. The cumulative effect of Fremont’s ears going up as Henry called him and the noise the children made (Dennis even played a clarinet!) really freaked out Mr. Wilson who faints into Henry.
Mr. Wilson decides to go and sleep next door where he and Henry hear the horn noise again and figure out what happened.
