This episode should have been named “Mr. Wilson battles the moose.” In this episode Dennis and Tommy find a stuffed moose head in the garbage can and bring it home as a present for Alice. At the same time they receive a postcard stating that Mr. and Mrs. will be back from vacation today. When Mr. Wilson comes home he is a changed man and isn’t even upset when he finds out that Dennis hit a home run that broke his kitchen window, turned on the tap water, and flooded the kitchen or that Henry had to jimmy the back door to get in and fix things only to have Dennis break the door again the next day. Dennis then asks to camp out in the backyard and Mr. Wilson offers his tent and also agrees to take Dennis to the circus that is arriving in town the next day . He also
Meanwhile the neighbor behind the Mitchell house asks them to come over and play bridge and listen to his new hi-fi and a recording of a train wreck that sounds ultra-realistic. We also learn that he has a record of jungle animal noise including lions and that Henry will hang up the moose head outside so Dennis and Tommy can pretend they are in the wilderness.
After Dennis and Tommy start to camp out Mr. Wilson and Mrs. Wilson are going to bed. The Mitchells are playing bridge next door and Dennis and Tommy can hear them in the yard because the man’s patio speaker is on. They run and ask to hear the jungle animal noise.
Unfortunately, the Wilsons also hear the train sounds coming across the stereo and speculate that it is the circus train on the spur track in the park. When it crashes, they are concerned but they really flip out when the animal noises start because they think the wild animals are running around the neighborhood. Mr. Wilson runs to the closet and grabs a saber and dashes outside to save the boys without his glasses on. Needless to say, he ends up bumping into the moose head and slashing at it while Martha calls the police.
The show ends with Mr. Wilson lamenting having poured out his nerve medicine.
